PROTEIN TREATMENT FOR MY NATURAL HAIR
05:45
Hi guys welcome back to today’s blog, this blog
is in conjunction with my other blog titled “DIY PROTEIN TREATMENT” so make
sure to check that out. I have decided to write a blog about Protein treatments
after receiving excellent response to my coconut oil post. So sit back and
enjoy this post. If you have any questions make sure you leave a comment or
email me (information provided below)
So let’s get started!
What is protein?
Your hair is mostly made up of a protein called
Keratin. Proteins are amino acids that account for about 20% of your body’s
weight in muscles, skin, bones and hair. One thing to note is that Protein treatments
should not be confused with making your hair grow. A diet rich in protein is
the only way to nourish hair strands with protein from within. To grow new
hair, your body must produce more amino acids to make more protein. Consuming
the right amounts of protein in your daily diet will give your body what it
needs to stimulate new hair growth. However, protein treatments are helpful in
protecting and strengthening hair from the outside and giving the hair a
more healthy appearance. Protein treatments can be used to strengthen and
repair damaged or dry hair. There are many protein treatments available on the
market, including my favorite one “Organics hair Mayonnaise”. However, if
you prefer, you can make your own protein treatments at home – I do this most
of the time, Click here to view my DIY PROTEIN TREATMENT. -Please note there
are other ways of making your own treatment, but this treatment is tailored to
my needs.
What will I benefit
from a Protein Treatment for my hair?
If you have problems with your hair, such as
hair breakage, hair loss, and any other hair problems, you may
consider this method for improving your hair health. This method can be done
easily without spending too much money for your healthy hair.
Below are a number of benefits provided by a
protein treatment (please note this is not an exhaustive list):
Strengthen your hair and treat dry hair
You can use this nutrient for improving your
hair strength as it forms the main part of the hair; It is a good ingredient
that can prevent and reduce your hair loss and breakage problems. Dry hair is something that a lot of afro hair
suffers from as our curly hairs are very kinky. Dry hair can also trigger some
hair fall problems. This ingredient can help your hair produce hair oil that is
very useful to moisturize your own hair. As the result, you may be able to
reduce your hair problems. As a result
of strengthening your hair, you’re more able to retain growth and less prone to
breakage
Reduce some scalp problems
Protein can also be used to improve your scalp
health. If you do not have healthy scalp, you may not be able to get healthy
hair growing on your head. There are several scalp problems that can be solved
by using this protein, such as dry scalp and irritated scalp. These problems
should be treated well if you want to improve your hair health – be careful
when applying external protein to your hair, test before use for allergies.
How do I know
when it’s time for a protein treatment?
For me I learned to know when it is time by
observing my hair; I would recommend a protein treatment if:
- Your hair rough despite using conditioner and even shampoo
- After trying other treatments and the hair still looks dull
- If the hair lacks body or it is very thin (Only if this is not normal for my hair)
- If I have applied a lot of heat to me hair when wearing a certain hairstyle, I apply protein treatment straight after.
Is protein not
bad for your hair?
Too much of any good thing can be bad. Overuse
of protein treatments can leave your hair feeling stiff. The key is to make
sure you are balancing use of protein treatments with depositing moisture into
the hair. Try a hot oil treatment and
deep conditioning your hair between protein treatments.
Few
Benefits of Mayonnaise Hair Treatment:
Moisturizes hair:
Mayonnaise contains oils which help nourish and moisturize your hair from deep
within. It is considered very useful for dry and damaged hair.
Protects from harmful styling products:
Mayonnaise
treatments also help protect your hair from all the harmful effects of styling
products. These products tend to dry our hair out. Mayonnaise helps replenish
and repair damage- This is the reason why I do a mayonnaise treatment immediately
after I have doing a hairstyle that involves a lot of styling or heat.
Helps stop breakage:
The
protein found in mayonnaise helps fill the gap and clings on to the hair
strands really well. This makes your hair look fuller and gives it an excellent
shine.
